Why does she insist on poking a hole in her egg?

I have a Barred Rock hen that pokes a hole in every single egg. I have even tried reaching under her to get the egg but then she tried to poke a hole in my hand.

She never eats the egg and after she pokes her hole she jumps out of the box and is on her way. Has anyone else experienced this? What can I do to break her of it?

I think I'd treat her like an egg eater (crock pot perhaps?) before she teaches the others to eat eggs!

Find a couple of egg-shaped rocks, after she hits those a few times, she'll be cured.

Lol!!! I don't think she is an egg eater either. I think she is just curious. Thanks for the ideas though because I have got to break her of it. She is the first hen we got so she is def not going to the crock pot!

You could probably get those roll away nest boxes, then she wouldnt really have a chance to get at the eggs?
