why does she keep getting pooped on?

my 3 month old Columbian wyandotte is getting pooped on so often! when i let them down from the coop, 1/14 times she is covered in poop!
i don't want to stress her out by giving her a million baths... i think she sleeps at the bottom of the coop but i cant stop it... i don't know if there is enough room for
2 hens and 12 3 month old chicks in a 4 by 2 coop...


i will not cut her feathers.

That's definitely too many birds in a tiny coop. Is there enough roosting spa e for all of them?

Poop boards! That would solve the problem. I take it you don't have them in your coop?

That is enough space for 2 hens... way to small for the amount of birds you have in there.

Can you put an extension on your existing coop to make it big enough to accommodate all those chickens?

That would be the easiest way to remedy the situation. If not you can sell half of your chick group. That would help a little.

For each adult, standard-sized hen you need:

• 4 square feet in the coop,
• 10 square feet in the run,
• 1 linear foot of roost,
• 1/4 of a nest box,
• And 1 square foot of permanent, 24/7/365 ventilation, preferably located over the birds' heads when they're sitting on the roost.

For 14 chickens you need:

• 56 square feet in the coop -- 7'x8' (8'x8' is easier to build)
• 560 feet in the run -- just shy of 25'x25' or 15'x40'
• 14 linear feet of roost,
• 4 nest boxes
• And 14 square feet of permanent, 24/7/365 ventilation.
