One if our hens have a lump on their bottom so we have been giving her and the flock antibiotics. Just today we got an egg from one of the girls and it had a rough shell and looked like this...

Is it safe to eat?

I would avoid eating any eggs from the chickens for a period of time during and for a while after. As for the length of time, it can vary, and it depends on the medication, but rule of thumb is usually 2-4 weeks. :). You may be able to look the info up on the antibiotic online or ask a vet.

That egg got into contact with another egg in the shell gland pouch. When that happens the normal calcification process is interrupted and the first egg that went into the pouch will get an extra layer of calcium, showing up as the white band. These eggs are normally perfectly fine to eat, but in your case there will be some antibiotic residue in the eggs. I personally eat the eggs after deworming or medicating my hens, but it is risky, if you are allergic to any medicines, antibiotics etc, rather dispose of them for 14 days after stopping treatment.
