Most napping occurs midday while they are in day roost (if free ranging). Birds will terminate nap if disturbed. You may have to observe from distance.
Why don't my chickens nap?

About this time of year, when autumn is approaching, I frequently see my birds napping. Younger ones not as much as my 3 year old hens, but even the younger ones do from time to time.
