Why don't they just go ahead and make a cat/dog food

Their nutritional requirements are quite different. Cats require a much higher level of protein than dogs.

They do make a crossover food, we use it. It's called raw meat.

The possums keep coming on the deck to eat out of the cat food and I trap them and take them to the woods and ...wonder if it's the same ones making their way back to my deck. The cats eat out of the dog dishes and the dogs eat out of the cat dishes. Gee, wish they could read -- the bowls are clearly marked!
