It is natural to feel like you have done something wrong, but all you have to do to see you haven't is look at your beautiful healthy birds. We have no way of knowing when one of our chicks has a congenital problem. I lost a pullet at about 4 months of age. She was one of the liveliest I had, and squaked constantly, whether she was happy or irritated. She was well when she got on the roost the previous evening, and then I found her dead the next morning, looking no different than always. Nature can be cruel, but the beauty outweighs the bad.
