Why incubate?

The expectation of hatching your own is the drug!

Cuz it irritates my wife

I also do it in class to show kids how animals develope and lots of breeds just won't get the job done especially pen raised quail. It might be an addiction thing as well

I'm doing it because I'm bringing in other breeds of bird eggs I don't have and I like the fact that the babies will be tame. There is nothing cooler than a tame bird that will come and fly up to your arm, shoulder, or lap. Oh yeah and its addictive.

I got into incubating because my girls didn't go broody when I wanted them to. I like being able to have control over when the chicks hatch (as far as seasons).

It's really just a personal preference.

I just hatched my first two in an incubator and it was just the coolest thing! Watching them hatch is so rewarding, IMO.

I'll Incubate to get started and then I'll hopefully have a few broody Blue Orpingtons to take over. If not I'll continue to incubate till I get a good broody hen.
