Why is his comb turning black?

its not been cold, no frostbite. thought it was dirty but its not washing off. Nice cockerel with a nice straight 5 point comb...and its turning black. he is otherwise healthy cept for a hurt leg ...the big rooster whacked him now he is lame. so what would make a comb turn black?

It just looks like he has dark skin, what is commonly referred to as gypsy face.

so probably not any fungus or disease? whew! will he get knocked for it if I show him?​

It could fade as he matures, I would wait and see what he looks like in a couple months.

One of my Orpington girls looked like that as a pullet. As she got older, it turned nice & red.
