Why is it ALWAYS 3?!

very horrible stink i guess

that's why i don't want to keep eggs long time enough inside bator after no sign of life. you should candle them on day 23rd, if no movement then just bury them.

I hear ya, i said the last time i did it was not going to do again.
but i did and have better success

I last time i incubated, i put in 30 eggs, and got 1
90% died half way through

this time i spray down the the incubator with Hydrogen Peroxide, and let dry they set up the bator, put water in got to temp of 99.5 humidity between 43 and 52

and i put a little water in every day,

Candled at day 7, 15, 18, 20, out 20 chicken eggs i have 11 that are peeping right now, 4 were not fertilized and out 11 duck eggs i have 5 that are growing, 5 were not fertilized.

last time, i just wiped out the incubator, there was a couple times where the there was hardly any water, and a few days the temp went way up then way down, so i had issues with low humidity at times and temp fluctuation.

I'm going to get the new Hovor bator, the 1588 that has a set temp at 99.5 and you can also get a attachment to put on if your power goes out you use a battery back up.

maybe change something that you are doing.

the room you have it in. have the eggs been clean to well, or not well enough.

did you check the eggs that didnt make it and see at what age the embryo died.

I love when my girls go broody, i let them deal with all that and then they get to take care of the baby's to, all i need to do make sure they have chick starter and water

I hope you have better luck next time, that can be very frustrating

The incubator I'm using is a forced air Little Giant. I think that is the problem.

The last one I had was a still-air model. If I kept it at 101.3*F with 67% humidity, I'd get close to 100% hatch.

With this thing....gosh I hate it. But I had always heard the forced air was better....I will never get one again. I miss my duct-taped incubator...

I think a lot of people used forced air for incubating and still air for hatching. I started doing that because I needed more than one unit and the still airs were cheaper. My hatch rate is climbing. Granted they are my own eggs, but I am probably going to get at least as many with just this hatch as I did hatching shipped eggs all summer long.

Rod : You have to turn the knob on the side of the bator for how many you want to hatch, it's probably stuck on three (3) LOL.

Are the eggs that hatch sitting in the same location in the bator every time and do they hatch on time? I'm wondering if your temps are off or fluctuating and only eggs in a certain location are getting the correct temperature since little styrofoam bators aren't known to be the most stable or consistent throughout even with a fan.
