5 Deg every month? I think you mean every week, I tried using a 60 Watt bulb to get the brooder up to temp and I couldn't get it over 65 Deg and this is a small brooder I am using this time around.

Yeah I prefer the 150 watt red heat lamps.. Red is good because if one chicks gets pecked enough to bleed (rather common) the others wont notice it.. (If the do they will peck the chick to death)
