Why is my Chick's half shell still attached 3 hours later?

I had a chick on my current hatch who drug her shell around for several hours. A little warm water, and whatever was sticking it to the fluff dissolved. I was too scared to get scissors so close to a squirmy chick :oops:
 
Had 2 more today. One is bleeding out. The other is fine. Stranger things can happen I suppose. Trying to stop the bleed right now.
