Why is my drake Obsessed with eggs?

My Ancona drake is simply obsessed with my Muscovy's eggs. Every time she lays and he's able to get his hands on it, he freaks out. It's like he's trying to protect it. Is this normal? Who cares, it's adorable, but I'm just curious. It's almost like he wants to nest with it?

My Muscovy ducks share nests but I have never seen the drakes involved. It makes me laugh to watch the ducks trying to casually steal eggs by rolling them from one nest to another.

Yep. No flip flops in the coop or my drake will try to amputate toes when I collect eggs. He loooves the eggs. The girls could care less about them.

Ha! So funny. If you put the egg right in front of my girl then she will pull it under her with her beak. But she doesn't care to try and protect it. But my boy just loves them. So silly.
