I have 3 ducks, all of different breeds. My cayuga has been acting strangely: He hurt his foot a week ago, but it seems to be better (I have heard that prey animals will pretend not to be hurt, so is his foot still injured?) he doesn't want to run around as much as the other ducks, he is often laying down and napping, when I give them treats the others will come up and fight for treats while the cayuga lays down and sits there like he doesn't know what is going on. Is it because he is too hot (he as been panting a lot, but they have a pond to go in and he is fine when he is in there)? Is his foot still bothering him? Is it just because cayugas are more docile and mellow than other duck breeds? Any input would be nice! These are my first ducks and they are my babies and I don't want them to be sick! BTW they are about 1 month old. I am probably just being a worrywart, he is probably fine, but if you guys think there is something wrong I would like to know!!!
Thanks!

Without being familiar with him, I am wondering if he has an infection. Can you take a really close look at the foot, handling it to see if it is warm or if there is any swelling?

I feel like my grandmother when I suggest this because I suggest it for so many problems, but some vitamins and electrolytes, or apple cider vinegar (organic, with the mother - one teaspoon per gallon of water) may help him fight off whatever is bothering him.

Panting can be a sign of stress. He may still be healing.
