My DH got the electric bill and questioned why it's sooo high. $100. higher than normal. Well of course I blamed it on the daughter home from college for the month! Hmmmm...or could it be the 3 heatlamps, stock tank de icer, goldfish pond de-icer, heated water bowl, heated water bucket, and extra lights in the barn all day???
Oh, and the incubator..

My hobby can be expensive...but I could just go to the casino and blow it instead, right?

I'm with you, lets go. My electric bill was $100 more this month to

All of the above could be what made the bill highr, Our home is also has an electric furnace and in winter our electric bill goes up the roof, so three years ago I went to the electric company and asked them to put me on Budget, and they agreed now I pay the same $$ amount every month through out the year and every year the Electric company send me a check back for about $10.

Tell him you have someone who will exchange electric bills! Ours is $494.49-might as well say $500. We have a dairy farm but, it is high this month. All the deep freezer weather we've been having and having to run the heaters in the milk house is rough.

Any device with a heating element pulls a lot of current. These devices are basically a "dead short" through a resistive coil or element. Looks like you have a lot of heat producing devices. You can greatly reduce your usage by running these as less as possible. I know its kind of hard in the winter, but any little bit helps.

Ours was a $100 higher than last month as well. It shocked us because it wasn't that cold, we were out of town for 5 days thus the heat was turned down and appliances were off. Supposedly our elect. company instituted the price increase that was supposed to hit last summer. It really stinks.

I figure it costs $50.oo per person per month on top of what heat and lights normally costs.. we have electric water heater, kitchen stove 2 refrigerators and 3 large freezers.. not to mention incubators, heating lamps and brooders.. we ru about $500.oo/Month

and it has been exceptionally cool this winter as an average..

Hey imfowl. Yes, that is my electric bill. I am on Slemco. Slemco is a great company. But...............I also have gas as well but my gas bill usually runs about $18.00. I live in a 4 bedroom 2 bath home. I guess living alone helps with the utilities. But then I'm obsessed with making sure that unnecessary lights and other things are turned off. I also keep unnecessary things unplugged.
