No, my sister n law told me to put some fertilized eggs under her and when I went to put 2 collected this morning, she did have a very warm egg under her. First time ever in a year that any have gone broody. I just don't understand the feather appearance but I know she has been sleeping like this also.

Is she inside due to illness?
Oh and no , I have a guest house on My property that I run a dog salon out of and one of the back rooms is their coop. They are kind of spoiled but I'm the only able bodied person on 3 acres and I just can't build them a coop by myself. I have all the materials and tools just no help!

Broodies don't care what's under them. Eggs, golfballs, rocks, woodchips or even absolutely nothing they WILL make it hatch. If you want to break her put her in a bare bottomed wire dog crate with just food, water and a roost for at least a few days. She should snap out of it after a few days to a week

If you put one of her eggs a few inches in front of her, but not under her, and she is broody, she will either get up and sit on top of it, or she will push it under her chest with her beak while she is lying there on the ground. It's the funniest thing.

I've seen hens that are about to lay their egg for the day, or who have just laid their egg for the day do this behavior, but then after an hour or so they wander off and ignore the egg - not broody.

The combo of hormones and sight of an egg causes the egg sitting/egg hoarding behavior, near as I can tell. Some broody hens will even cup eggs up under their wings to transport them to a nest that it's not possible to roll the egg over to because of how the nests are laid out.
