why is my Goose showing Aggression?

Up until this year my geese especially my gander and my grandchildren had a fence in between them, but getting Missy and Sam getting older has mellowed him out some and the kids went into the fenced in area where the geese were and I saw Sam and my granddaughter fall in love, He was so curious about her and I think because they are older and settled down now they weren't jumping and running around the geese didn't feel threatened. They are finally taller than the 2 geese too at 15 and 13 just my 10 yr old grandson has a bit of growing to do but He knew he had to move slowly and be quiet when he was in with them. I enjoyed watching the looks on the geese's faces.and the lil noises they made. LOL

I'd still be concerned about a small child being around them, don't think that would work with out supervision

Before I take anyone to visit my geese, I tell them No shrieking, no squealing,no running away. Stand your ground if you feel threatened. Those that I think are likely to make a fuss don´t get an invite! Reason being, I don´t want my geese even thinking they can get one over on people. So far, so good. My young gander tried it on a bit with me when "protecting" his goose on a nest, but I just advanced and he backed off and stumbled down the bank. No trouble since.
So,barredrockgirls, have you decided if Lucy really is a Lucy? Going by the fotos she looks like a she, as she´s not got the stance of a gander and she´s not in-between you and Lady. But the voice is what decides it really. The geese chunter, qquite low-pitched. The ganders chunter a bit, but then squeak! The girls don´t do this.

thanks for all the advice ! but no i still am un sure .... she ( he) now leads the whole flock ( herself at the front then Lady then the 3 ducks ) .... and when one of them is more than 20 feet from her she totally flips out and squawks everything . and yes she normally is between you and the flock but i am mama to all of them so after a bit she relaxes and walks around ...idk

Can you post a pic of them going around in their group, you know, when they´re off somewhere? It may show his/her carriage. When the ganders move around, they look like a ship in full sail...they arch their necks and tread very carefully to make themselves as graceful as possible. The geese don´t do this when they´re going somewhere...they just want to get there! You´d imagine the ganders were carrying around little mirrors with them for vanity!

And usually the ganders follow up the rear, but not always. Could be she´s simply a very dominant female.

Hilarious your description of a gander and so true only problem with my gander when he is in full sail he sometimes gets grounded we have so much for him to trip over, large rocks, ducks etc lol and Sam does have a mirror in his and Missy house so he can spiff up before coming out every morning. You described them to a T.

Ducks?? He trips over ducks?! And rocks?? Like boulders? He must be conceited!

I reckon he´s over-using his mirror!!! So funny.

He's also been known to step into water buckets. feed bowls always has his head in the air. and yes he's been know to step on ducks at times especially if I bring out something he really likes to eat. and yes we live in the mountains so plenty of boulders and rocks to trip on when one isn't watching where he's going.
