i have a cochin hen thats a little over a year old. she was pretty consistant at laying an egg a day and then she went broody, but nothing hatched. but now about 2 and a half weeks later i have only see 1 egg since she was broody. is this normal? does it just take time for her to start laying again? she has the right food that has a layer supplement in it but still no eggs anyone have any guess as to why this may be??

Pretty normal, I think. Cochins are not renowned as broodies, and I gather they have a more difficult time of it. longer to get to it, longer to get out.
Be patient.

After my hens are broody, it usually takes them several weeks to get back to laying.

My chickens are pretty garden variety: Amaracauna, RIR, Leghorn, Buttercup, Buff Orpington, part Silkie, Sex-linked and Speckled Sussex.

Each is different in her way--some lay a week later, some take longer...

Just like all women, we are unique:D
