Why is my hen not laying yet??Need advice!

I have a Pekin hen that's 8 months old and not a single egg!!!
I saw my rooster mate with her 3-4 times and still no eggs have been layed. Does anyone have advice or an explanation to this???

Cochins/Pekins mature later; I'm sure that's all it is. Not all that uncommon, I think.

When do they start laying then?
Do you breed with Pekins(Chocins)?

No, I don't, but I know many people who raise bantam Cochins/standard Cochins. I do have three pullets whose father was a standard Cochin/Silkie cross, mothers were Barred Rocks. The first one began laying at 18 weeks and the others followed about two weeks later.
I think I've heard of some that lay as late as ten months old.

Just a thought - is she allowed to free range? If so, she may be hiding her eggs from you.
