I agree with the other posters--it sounds like your Silkie is going broody, or at least thinking of it.

Thanks for the warm welcome!!! I got a new silkie the other day from the animal swap. The two that I have now roam my back yard and hang out under the deck. The new girl (I think it's a girl) has found a place to bed down at night so I pick her up and put her in the coop with the others. When she comes out in the morning she goes right under the deck and stays all day. The other two end up staying under there too now. Will this behavior change? Should I keep her in the coop for a few days? Thanks in advance!!

Thanks for all the info! She finally stopped sitting but hasn't laid any eggs yet and it's been well over two weeks. I had someone tell me it could take six weeks for her to lay again?? We added another girl (we think) to our brood but she is just four months old. I forget how old my other was before she started laying. I miss finding eggs
