Why is my New Hampshire Red so skinny?

I have 2 New Hampshire reds. One of my hens is extreamly skinny compaired to the other one. She is my only hen that is this skinny. Is she not getting enough food? How do I get her to a healthier weight? Could this be life threatening?

Could it possibly be worms or some kind of mites/lice?

Are you feeding them some kind of layer pellet(if they are laying)? Also, I wouldn't give too much corn-only as a treat and only in moderation.
If you think they feed is a good brand-I would probably go ahead and worm them, just to be on the safe side.

Since you haven't found anything else wrong with the hen, do you think perhaps she's just a "skinny" chic?
I have a smaller Golden Buff who seems thinner than her roommates but she acts like the toughest bird in the flock. She gives me an egg everyday. Unless you suspect some type of health issue, I wouldn't worry about her.

If you want to experiment, give her some extra food - yogurt mixed with raw oats, scrambled or hard boiled eggs - and see if she fattens up.

I have a skinny RIR who just seems to be slow at putting on weight. How old is the skinny one in your flock? She might fill out as she gets older. She seems healthy in the picture.

When was the last time you wormed your Production Red? ( there not New Hampshers ) The could use a good worming...

Her back looks rougher than the other one, is she the Roo's favorit & spends more time running from him? I have one that is the favorit & she is by far thinner than the rest. I also have too many roo's right now.

Second pic looks like a production red not a RIR. Which means it will be lighter in weight then the other RIR. Body type has alot to do with weight light body compared to heavy body.

I find sometimes the best layers are a bit thinner, especially near the end of the laying year.
