why is my new turkey so loud

I just got a small turkey it's about 3-4 week old. it is the only one and it very loud PEEP PEEP PEEP so loud is it lonley or what please help do i need one more or is this normal. do you think it will be ready for turkey day thanks for your help

they are loud to start with, but yes it's calling for others. They are used to being in groups, so right now it's trying to locate it's family, basically feels lost like a new puppy whining for mama. It'll get over it, or you can get it some mates, but then you have a group of loud babies HAHA

Yes it's lonely. I would definately suggest getting another but if you absolutely can't, put a small mirror or stuffed animal with it to keep it company.

yep, even a chick from another breed/species will work in most cases.

What kind of turkey is it? If it's heritage, I really don't think it will be ready by Thanksgiving. Plus if it's the only one, you'll fall in love and won't be able to do it...

it is a bb bronze it is cute but i want to eat it so i am trying not to see it as cute just tasting good

If you do it shortly before Thanksgiving, it would be about 4 months old. Denninmi just did up some that were 10 weeks ols and guess the weight to be 8 or 9 pounds. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=557109

At 4 months they should be decent sized.
