Why is my peacock sitting on eggs?

My peahen just started laying this clutch of eggs. There are only two eggs so far. Several times I have found the peacock sitting on the eggs though. He hasn't broke any or been aggressive. Why is he sitting on the eggs though instead of her?

Your hen will not go broody until there is a clutch of eggs to set and then it is not certain that she will. Cocks are funny, some do this but most do not, it could be he is protecting the eggs.

Last year was the first year we got eggs. He was very protective of the first egg. This year he backed off and isn't showing any aggression. I thought it was funny though that he's trying to hatch the eggs.

He is not capable of producing enough heat to incubate the eggs, he is just guarding them.

That's good to know. So, I don't have to worry about the eggs starting to develop then dieing because he leaves them for so long, right?
