Why is my pullet's eye closed?

I walked into my coop yesterday to find my red sex link pullet, Sunny, with her eye closed. It's only her right eye. She opens it occasionally for a few seconds at a time, but then she closes it again. When it's open, it looks normal. What's wrong with her?

I've seen one of my Wyandotte hens do this occasionally, with no problem. However, it is more likely that your hen has a mild injury to her eye (or near her eye), or she is developing a respiratory disease. I would consider isolating her, observing her for further symptoms, and possibly getting some antibiotics (like Tylan or Terramycin) to treat her with.
