Why is my rooster nesting

My rooster loves to sit and stare at the corner. But today I came out to let my chickens free range and he didn’t come out. A couple of my hens are really broody right now if that could be affecting him. He is pulling things towards home like my hens do when they are nesting. He is definitely a roo, he has fertilized eggs and crows consistently. He is also our only rooster. Why could he be doing this? He gets up periodically but he keeps coming back in to sit in the same spot, he’s not even sitting on anything.
