Why is my salmon faverolle black??

I got this day old salmon faverolle today from Performance Poultry (excellent reputation). I had asked for one female salmon faverolle. I was very surprised to see an almost all black chick. Are they usually black? I’ve never kept faverolles before.

Maybe the hen was cheating on the rooster. kidding

If she were a buff, I'd be ok with that too. Kind of annoyed at their mistake, but really I'd just be happy to have a brahma....and who knows...maybe they'd give me a light brahma anyway.

I bought all my chicks from different feed stores across the county. Did my research and found them to originate from the same hatchery! Go figure!

Might be that you have a Brahma/Langshan cross. The pea comb and white legs are both dominant traits and both breeds are offered at this hatchery. That would be a pretty big whoops but stuff happens.
