Your story warms my heart especially how much your chickens mean to you. So many, myself included, think of our chickens as our pets thus part of our family.
I respectfully don’t agree with you about the treat percentage but that is a discussion for another time.Stop ALL treats until all are laying normally. And then, if and when you resume feeding treats, you must make sure that it's never more than 10% by weight of their total feed consumption. In other words, keep it to a very low roar. Treats are for you. Not the birds. They do not need them.

I think everyone's perception of "treats" is different. Our treats are now Kalmbach's Henhouse Reserve because they wasted too much when it was in their feeder so I went back to layer crumbles and now they get that fermented and as "scratch." Other than that, they don't get much for "treats" though I have been known to throw the corncobs out in the yard when we're done eating.I respectfully don’t agree with you about the treat percentage but that is a discussion for another time.![]()
