Why is one of my ducks standing while she sleeps?

why is one of my ducks standing on her feet while she sleeps?

Just individual preference?

Yeah! This is completely normal. Certain ducks will sleep certain ways depending on their own preference, I had several who would sleep standing on a single leg.

I've seen 3 of my ducks doing this in the middle of the duck run with their bills stuck in their wings too. They don't do it all the time. I think it's silly!

It seems ducks are the cats of the bird world, when it comes to sleeping positions! Since last year i have see so many silly sleeping positions: Two ducks chest to chest, using each other as a pillow; the dead duck position, legs and neck stretched out flat and sitting upright on the legs and the tail-feathers are among my favorites.

My geese do it too. sleep standing on one leg head tucked onto back.

My old drake used to sleep on one foot, if it was windy he couldnt sleep and he would go inside to sleep
