My pullets have just started laying and I have several nestboxes set up with hay and golf balls and even those wooden fake eggs.
They want to lay their eggs in this weedy area up beside my house. THe first time I caught one doing this, I couldn't even see her except for her large, red, fleshy comb (she is a SLW) Then I looked under her after she left, and there is a nest they made (because I found 2 eggs)
I don't mind them laying there, but why would they hold their egg until I let them out? I just let them out, and I saw one of my SLW's run to the side of the house away from where any of them hang out.
