WHY is she doing this?

I would give her a nesting box of some sort. Maybe just improvise something and see if she goes for it. Like a 5-gallon bucket laid down. Or a plastic basin of some sort. Looks like she's not too happy laying eggs out in the open.

Poor baby. Lol Do you collect the eggs daily. Isn't there eggs up there? She may just want all the eggs removed before she last ???? Good luck. Lol

Those are golf balls in the photo. She and my Barred Rock like to arrange them underneath themselves when they lay. Yes, I collect the eggs each day, usually shortly after they lay.

Yesterday and today she happily laid her eggs on the nesting counter. Go figure. Something just got into her that other day. I have had three EE's and each one of them has had a completely different personality. The first one was very social and adored us. The second one was aloof. And now I have Ms. Crazy-pants....
