Why is the fluid clear?

I have a hen with ascites. I drained some of the fluid that came out clear. I was expecting yellow fluid. Is it normal? Or sign of something else other than heart or liver problems? There is a lot more left, she was still laying till a few days ago.
 
That is a sign of a cystic right oviduct in hens—see picture below. Usually the right ovary shrinks away, leaving only the left ovary. If it does not, then it can become cystic with fluid, and the abdomen appears enlarged with fluid. It can be common in flocks after an outbreak of infectious bronchitis virus that typically causes sneezing and respiratory symptoms for a month. Here is some reading about it:
