This chick always sits. When it’s eating or the others in it’s group stop moving it sits. But the other three won’t leave it unless it’s ready to move. I’m not sure if it’s having trouble standing, if it’s hurt or what it’s problem is. I’ve looked it over and it looks fine. Any help? I hope he’s okay

No limping. Walks and runs fine. It’s not bumblefoot. I even checked for like splinters or anything. He’s been like that since he was given to me about a week ago.

Where did you get him from? Was he kept in a crate other small location?
He was just given to me a guy wanted to get rid of all of them. I’m not sure if he was or not. He gave me seven chickens all together and the rest of them seem to be fine. I put them in a crate for a few nights in the big coop so the older chickens could get used to them but I let them out to free range almost all day.

Hmmm. It is unusual but maybe that’s normal for him??? Especially if he can move around just fine and still runs and walks when he wants. I don’t know too much about diseases or health problems that may cause this, but if he’s eating/ drinking/ acting normal otherwise maybe it’s just what he does??

It will be interesting to see if he can get up and down off the roost once he’s out of the crate and in the coop. Sorry I’m not much help though! Maybe someone else will weigh in who has seen this before.

Yes eating and all is good too no diarrhea or anything unusual he jumps and even hop flys around and onto things fine. I have a couple logs and stuff in there. So hopefully it’s just he’s lazy and not sick thanks

Is he in a cockerel flock? If you can't find anything else wrong maybe he's just low man on the totem pole & it's a submissive behavior? I'm curious if you let him out without the others if he'd still sit.
