. If you could post some pics I'm sure there are people here that could identify the breed for you.

If its a roo I would be HAPPY

I love the idea of being able to breed my own for the following year

Where did you make the purchase? Was it a private breeded or a Farm store? Usually they are pretty good about getting the genders right it mayt just be another breed. Orpington maybe. I have seen pictures of Orpingtons and they are BEAUTIFUL

i got these at tsc and they said most of them was golden comets but they did have diff breeds in the same tank that where darker in color well i will post a pic but it ant feathered out all the way and i dont want a roo my mom and dad would kill me if i had one but if it is i am going to keep it anyways

I have 6 that are almost 4 weeks with the same situation. Five started out a pale buff with red chipmunk stripes down the back (one had a red head, too), and one was solid red. When they started feathering out, the red ones wings were copper with black bars, while the others were that pale cream/buff color. Now that they're older, the paler ones have started getting coppery feathers on their chests and backs, so the differences are far less noticeable.

Personally, I think Georgiana's just some other breed--Comets are sex-linked, so it would take some serious genetic abnormality for the reddest chick to be male. And after all, I did buy them from a bin marked "Assorted Red Pullets" with a handwritten G. Comet underneath. If you buy from a bin marked assorted, you can't really fuss if you wind up with an assortment.

Usually the assorted pullets bin has a bunch of production reds. Our local feed store and Tractor Supply both had both golden comets and "red pullets" at the same time, so one could have easily got mixed in. It's most likely another pullet. If it is a roo, just list it on Craigslist. Someone will take it. You don't have to ask what they're going to do with it.
