A lot of people can't afford the newest, latest and greatest. Just because they have it doesn't mean they can afford it. They put it on their credit card and end up paying a lot more. And smart phones have been around since about 1996, so a lot more than 15 years. The point is, the OP is using a phone to access this site and needs to clear their data and cache, instead of blaming the site. If there were other people having issues, I know Nifty would get it figured out. But since the OP is the only one, it's clearly on their endYep, maybe I should have clarified that I mean the "popular" smartphones, the latest models, all of that.
However, with the world becoming more and more smartphone oriented and "new" technology coming out all the time (*cough* planned obsolescence *cough*), those of us below the poverty line can't afford to keep upgrading to have all the latest crap. The cheapest smartphones can't even scan QR codes, which are (for some stupid reason I'll never understand) spreading like wildfire. "No, we don't give you a physical menu at this restaurant. You need to scan this QR code to read our menu."
There are entry level jobs that all but require you to have a smartphone so that you can be reached 24/7. I was rejected from a minimum wage job once years ago because I didn't have a smartphone, couldn't afford one, and they wanted to be able to call or text me any time they may have needed me to cover for another employee. How insane is that? Has everybody forgotten about home phones, leaving a message?
Smartphones have only been around for, what, 15 years or so? And they're already taking over everyday life. It sucks. Blegh. Hate it. Let's go back to writing letters![]()
