Smartphones don't have to be super expensive. We get ours at Best Buy for relatively cheap. They all lead to the same internet. And everyone I know has a smartphone, even my elderly neighbors on a very fixed income

It could have just been the models that I was given. They were like, the cheapest smartphones available. I think you can get better models for more money. Older iphones and such. But those can be up to a couple hundred dollars still.Ahhh okay. I didn’t realize that. My mom used to have one and then I used it for a bit after and I don’t remember it being too bad but this was a long time ago so I might not be remembering right and I also didn’t use it much. But I would have thought they would have improved by now? Maybe not though.

Yep, maybe I should have clarified that I mean the "popular" smartphones, the latest models, all of that.Smartphones don't have to be super expensive. We get ours at Best Buy for relatively cheap. As a few people said, we can't fix a problem with iOS / Safari that doesn't exist for all (or even a double-digit % of) users.I gotta think the owners know HOW to fix this and just are not, for some reasons.
It is the best resource that’s why I want it to be more functional. Maybe it’s fine on chrome on a desktop but the majority of folks use mobile now. And iPhone is the most popular device by far so it should be optimized for iOS and Safari.
Now I had to look some stuff up.Yep, maybe I should have clarified that I mean the "popular" smartphones, the latest models, all of that.
However, with the world becoming more and more smartphone oriented and "new" technology coming out all the time (*cough* planned obsolescence *cough*), those of us below the poverty line can't afford to keep upgrading to have all the latest crap. The cheapest smartphones can't even scan QR codes, which are (for some stupid reason I'll never understand) spreading like wildfire. "No, we don't give you a physical menu at this restaurant. You need to scan this QR code to read our menu."
There are entry level jobs that all but require you to have a smartphone so that you can be reached 24/7. I was rejected from a minimum wage job once years ago because I didn't have a smartphone, couldn't afford one, and they wanted to be able to call or text me any time they may have needed me to cover for another employee. How insane is that? Has everybody forgotten about home phones, leaving a message?
Smartphones have only been around for, what, 15 years or so? And they're already taking over everyday life. It sucks. Blegh. Hate it. Let's go back to writing letters![]()
https://www.healthcare.gov/glossary/federal-poverty-level-fpl/Now I had to look some stuff up.
Walmart has my phone for $39 and some change. Amazon has it for $72 unlocked and not for a certain carrier. Cheaper linked to specific carriers.
My phone will scan QR codes. I've done it twice now.
I don't know what poverty level is but I'm sure I'm there or close to it. Enough so that I can't consider eating at a restaurant so not to worried about their QR code menus.
I will agree on the lack of memory. Mine only has 32 GB.
All in all though I haven't found anything I can't do on my phone and it works fabulous with BYC so ......
Oh, that's good! I wonder if they've gotten much cheaper overall in the last few years? I'll admit I haven't had to check smartphone prices since getting mine a few years ago, so it's entirely possible I'm way off on my price estimates these daysNow I had to look some stuff up.
