Why keep chickens if they're so disease prone?

this is what i mean.

read the attachment carefully, and note that chooks--large nos. of them--are getting resp. illnesses.

THIS REALLY MAKES ME PAUSE ABOUT GETTING BACK INTO CHX.

Ducks are so much tougher, and more eggs. Good luck finding a chicken that will outlay a Campbell duck--in the home flock

I really feel for this poor girl and her kids

Hey JMC, if it helps, I have had silkie chickens, white leghorns, for a long time and never had a sick chicken. Only a raccoon that loved to EAT my chickens.

Now I have silkies, frizzles, cochins, polish etc., and I still haven't had a sick chicken. It would be good, if you havent already, to contact your local extension service about getting the free chicken/egg handbook. Some of it may not be relavant to you, but those practices will help you keep healthier chickens if you are worried. You can pm me with any other concerns.
