why no eggs?(update and contest)

Ok, let's see if I can remember all this:

1 Blue laced red wyandotte (Roo) - Cordon Bleu
1 Buff Orpington - Audrey
1 Silver spangled hamburg - Rice N Beans
2 EE's - Kojak and Cue Ball
1 Naked neck turken - Pot Pie
1 Mystery bird, black with topaz thin feathers on her neck - Cajun

Two are laying - we have NO CLUE how old these birds are except Audrey - she is between 4-5 months. We have white/cream colored eggs. One is small the other meduim. Who are the culprits? We have no idea.

got the dates mixed up last time so heres what we have now

BSF-----28w

at 28 weeks shouldnt she be bright red in the face? They seem to be developing slow to me. What might cause this?

Hmmm, I don't have any buff cochins yet. But Marans eggs would be interesting...lol I'm going to be buying a HB genesis very soon, but I can wait until you are getting regular eggs from whomever. I need to get my newest arrivals settled into their still unfinished quarters before I start plotting to add new ones. lol

I wish I could give you something besides empathy on the lack of eggs since your Marans laid but I haven't had point of lay pullets before. When I got mine last year they were already laying, and the chicks I started last year were all boys.

YES at 28 weeks she should be red faced , Comb and waddles and LAYING ALSO ...
How many birds are in the same cage /coop ? I was told if chickens are caged can slow down development ? What are you feeding her ?
I also know ALL breeds are different . Are they free ranged ? Mine are all in ( secured run area 12x 32 ) and only in coop at night OR to lay during the day . And they developed very quick .

I have one that is getting very close to the 30 week stage who still has very little comb and wattle. She is healthy, happy and has lots of room to play. We let her out once in a while to graze the yard otherwise she gets layer pellets and fresh produce. She is a brahma that really is taking her time growing. It is fustrating when your little ones lay before the big ones do. I am just hoping that when she does get her little but laying she will lay me some HUGE eggs. She is one of my biggest birds. I have decided today though, that siz' hens will lay long before my brahma will ever get around to it.
