why people cross silkies and americana?

we mixed a Blue Silkie with a white EE and we got a baby that looks like a blue cochin with black skin 5 toes and blue muffs and a wild looking tail!

I have a pullet whose mother was an "Ameraucana" (Easter Egger) and whose father was a showgirl (silkie/turken cross). She is an odd looking chicken, but a great little mama who lays standard sized green eggs. She reminds me of a turkey when she puffs up while brooding.

I have a silkie/americauna mix! She is the sweetest thing! I don't think her owner meant to cross them I think it just happened, but I'm very happy with her she has so much personality and loves to be held!
