I am not trying to be disrespectful with this post.
I am not familar with Pheasants and have never eaten them. Why raise them when they are so small and don't have much meat? It seems like alot of work to butcher. How does the meat taste in comparison with chicken?

Well, a lot depends upon what breed of pheasants you are talking about. All are attractive birds, and many have them for 'pretty' or 'eye candy'. Ringnecks are a medium sized bird with , to me, a gamey and slightly more flavorful taste then chicken.

I raise them as a hobby. They are beautiful birds and fun to watch, ecspecially during breeding season when the males are strutting their stuff. And how could you eat these beauties? In N.H.,Tony.

Tony is right. It is a Joy to watch them and to see the different personalities of each of them. And if your lucky they become really friendly which is a reward in it's self.

Just what every one else has said. I've been an aviculturalists for almost 50 years and have always enjoyed the various aspects of raising pheasants. From my first pair of mutt ringnecks that I got when I was a child till now they have always been a joy to raise, hunt and yes to eat. Just like some one else said they are indeed "candy" for the eye. I find myself spending usually two to three hours every day just sitting in my aviaries watching my flock as they go about their days. It is very soothing! Hope you give it a try

i got some ringneck black and red golden pheasants. i have never had them before and dont know what to do, just a hobby i geuss

Do you sell any of your birds or eggs? They are sure beautifull. I have a trio of Red-Golden with one hen sitting.
Thanks,
Anne-Marie
