WHY?! (rant)

I tell mine to stop crapping in the yard. They don't listen either.

WE as in your whole family, parents included, don't want them in a run? If that's the case your parents have no legs to stand to to complain where they go or what they do. If it's you and your sister who don't want them in runs then it is time to put them in a run to respect your parents wishes.

With free range chickens it's best to either keep them in a fenced area or fence off areas you want them to stay out of. Is it possible to keep the barn door closed?

It's everyone's wishes. Not just me and my sister.

Sumi, if it was at all possible I'd close the barn door! But the cow goes in and out all day. So I can't.

We figured a little thing out.. It's definitely not the most attractive looking thing... But see, the place the chickens have been getting out of is where the cow's water bucket goes. One of them anyway. She never drinks out of it, so it was decided that it was unncessary to have it in the barn, unused, with 4 outside which she drinks from all the time. So the big blue water bucket is out of the barn now, and hardware cloth/chicken wire is all around the cow's stall, with no opening big enough for the chickens. Hopefully it'll work...

You should see the measures I go to to keep my naughty girls out of certain areas!
Hope your idea worked.
