Why so many of my chicks pip on the wrong end?

Does the first one to pip do this? I wonder if it has anything to do with the dry incubation method? I typically incubate almost dry, but I live in NC where it's humid. Have you ever tried to stop turning them on day 15 or 16 to see if this makes a difference?

I stop turning on day 16 (my bantys) -17(standards) also I'm in Florida so it's extremely humid

No it doesnt have to do with dry hatching.

I had this same problem hand turning. It has to be 5x or more per day or they pip the wrong end. I learned that after 3 years of incubating with hand turning only. I've always done dry incubation. All the pipping at the wrong end problems went away after i got an automatic turner, cause im too busy to stay on top of turning them all the time.

Really? So I should try one with an auto turner?

I feel like it honestly is just a coincidence. I have birds frequently pip the pointy end too. It isn't usually an issue.

You don't have to, you could try making sure you turn them 5x days 1 - 18 though, that should fix the problem.

Going to respectfully disagree. I only hand turn 2 or 3 times a day and i very rarely, want to say never actually, had a chick pip on the pointed end of an egg

np we all have different experiences, that's what helps narrow it down.

I hand turned for years and years and years. Also never turning more then 2 or 3 times a day and never had a noticeable amount pip the wrong end.
I also dry hatch because we usually have significant humidity here.

i have a homemade incubator which ive hatched a couple batches out of by turning the eggs 3x a day. there was only one out of all of them that i can remember that pipped on the wrong end, but it was still able to hatch. I currently have a batch of ten in that same incubator on day 4, and i have been turnign 3x a day like i normally do. So far, they all look alive. do you think i should start turning them 5x a day? im not sure if i have time or if changing the routine like that will hurt them.

Changing your routine, to turn 5 times per day instead of 3 times per day, should not hurt your developing eggs. (But I do not know whether it will help.)
