Why was first post deletion disabled

I changed the subject line when I figured out I couldnt delete this thread, why was that disabled?
This was intended to be a temporary message.

Because there were posts with ALOT of good information being destroyed. The admins/mods decided to leave it to their powers to decide what is or is not to be destroyed.

When a member's post is the thread starter (the first post) and then deletes this post, this action also deletes all the other members' posts that are replies to that first post.

When we had the ability available for members to delete their first post (and therefore the thread) we started to get complaints from other members about their posts being deleted.

After a lot of internal discussion the BYC staff collectively decided it would be best for the community to remove this feature to protect all the other members posts.

I hope that makes sense.

That feature was changed so that we would not lose entire threads and the information posted within them by other members when the original author chose to delete his/her first post.

Hmm , that could create allot of clutter, like this thread.
Not to mention, work to clean up the clutter for the mods.
