Why wasn't I warned.. not to build a coop, or heck get chickens... Oh well too late now. New build started this weekend.

Idk if anyone else has mentioned it, but make sure you can reach every location the chickens have access to. Specifically under the coop is what i'm thinking of. On a rainy day when the ground is wet and covered with poop, do you want to crawl under that building to get them out because they won't go in at night?

Back from vacation, painted the interior and started on the run. Hardware cloth delivered, auto door delivered and more goodies on the way. Better hurry these birds are outgrowing their brooder fast.

Coop is fully enclosed, first night outside for the ladies. Roost boards may get moved. Not sure I like this configuration may be too far to lean in to clean poop boards. May also be too low for proper poop board. Tomorrow bedding in the run and landscaping (maybe landscaping) inside chores are behind schedule.

Question for the experts, Do I need to go ahead and install the nest box even though we are still a ways from laying age?

I would, because it allows the young birds a chance to explore the boxes well in advance, so later on they'll hopefully remember it's a good spot to lay in.

Downside is there's some risk that some of them might try sleeping in them, though I personally haven't had that issue with my chicks.
