Why won’t my rooster mate?

I was recently given a rooster and hen to breed, but I have not yet to see my rooster mount the hen... is there a reason he don’t?

How old is he? Is the hen current laying eggs? How long have you had him?

It's probably the hen. They will fight back until they accept him. My girls fought with the roo I brought in for about couple months then he started breeding with them.

Early mornings and just before roosting time are the usual periods for that kind of activity. Aside from what others have suggested, it may also be that he has not settled in yet. How recently did you get them and were they a pair before you got them or have they just been put together?
