Why won’t wild ducks interact with pet ducks?

Hello! For awhile now I’ve always wondered why wild ducks always swam past my two pet ducks and never interacted. I want my ducks to interact with other ducks but the ducks out here seem to just swim by them, and always immediately after they see them. They also quack while doing it or just do it quietly.

Does anyone understand why?

Be glad that they don't interact, wild ducks could be carriers of illnesses or parasites.
Not to mention how aggressive the drakes can be during mating seasons

What breed do you have?

I think with waterfowl, there’s a general “stranger danger” until the separate flocks spend enough time around each other or until a particularly aggressive male shows up.

I immediately thought of the video going around in which a woman brings her pet duck to an area with wild ducks and it goes VERY poorly for the poor pet duck once it gets into the water.

That would make a lot of sense.
I was thinking maybe the ducks were trying to invite them to swim along or something along those lines. And that thought makes sense why the ducks always swim away when they see my ducks

My Welsh harlequins don't scare off the Canadian geese when they travel through this area. I end up with many in my pond and pasture. I don't mind, but they are noisy! People are used to seeing our horses, cows, and ducks..... but they slow down to look at the visiting Canadian geese.

Those geese visit my ducks too, expect theres this one whom visits them and he’s not nice to them. But other than that there’s a family who loves my ducks!
