Why won't it stop chirping?

In my current ongoing experience with my own wee one, the primary reason for excessive chirping seems to be a desire for human contact, especially if she's sleeping immediately after you pick her up. My own 2 week old exhibits the same behavior and whenever she goes immediately to sleep, it has been because she wanted to be held.

If she's not sleeping immediately but has plenty of food/water, she might just want to be out exploring her environment.

So chirpy chick must just be a needy one. After listening to her chirp and noticing that she would not lay down to sleep I scooped her up. She nestled down into my hand and slept. I held her for quite awhile and she didn't make a sound. When I did put her back she went right to eating and drinking and is now laying down napping in the sun. She's a sweety! And the smallest of the bunch...
