I received a game hen as a gift i think she was full grown but i really dont know how to tell their age but she isnt laying, I got her in oct. and its only jan. and i dont have a true nest box, but are these essentials in laying??? Could it be because of the winter ( i live in florida the coldest day is 30 degrees) my husband is in the process of building a new coop and a run which would give them alot more room (they share a coop right now no run so i bring them inside to run around) what factors should be changed to help my hen lay??? My other girl is about 4 months old so i dont expect it of her but should I?

When she's ready to lay she will, regardless of her surroundings. You've only had her for a few months so it's possible she isn't mature enough yet.

What are you feeding her? How much daylight is she getting? Both can throw of the laying schedule.

There are many reasons why the birds have not started laying yet. Maybe she is laying but hiding her eggs somewhere. Light can be a factor. Was she laying before you got her? They do prefer darker places toay their eggs. I painted the inside of my nest boxes a forest green, because I just happened to have some from another project.
