Spiders... bugs... I see what you did there. This would bug me to no end. To the lumber yard, dry wall, spackle and tape. Three coats of spackle, wet sand and paint. Or put stuff back in the closet, close the door, call it good.![]()

I'd hate to think what kind of creature was growing in my closet! The only reasons through the years that sheet rock was removed in my experience was a couple of times, water damage. Once, it had the kids' growing chart on the wall. We only knew that because the realtor's pictures showed it, and they gave $100 compensation for it.

It would definitely go on my never ending "I'll get to it eventually list"This would bug me to no end. To the lumber yard, dry wall, spackle and tape. Three coats of spackle, wet sand and paint. Or put stuff back in the closet, close the door, call it good.![]()
That stuff is a nightmare to work with. I always end up using too much then having to sand it back down.Protip: I wore gloves and had the foresight to wear a disposable shower cap since I was working in a small space and moving around quite a bit (I did find some gap filler on the shower cap when I took it off, so it did its job) but I should have worn a long-sleeved shirt as I ended up getting some on my arm.![]()
You could cover the openings with aromatic cedar boards, one along the top, one on each side, gluing them in place. It would make the closet smell good too. I found this on Etsy.

If you don't want that cedar chest smell in your closet, sure. Aromatic eastern red cedar repels moths that damage wool clothing and why it's commonly used in closets. Western redcedar fence pickets don't have that quality.
