I was excited and surprised, a friend generously donated 2 laying hens to my coop They are white Auracana's. My rooster is beyond himself with pride and roosterly business! One hen lay an egg her first morning here. The other hen went off to visit the roo next door.

My roo called her right back home.

She had 12 hens, small property The hens kept walking out in the road. Friend feared for the safety of drivers trying to avoid hitting dumb chickens.

I thought about quarantine, but she tossed them into the roo's pen immediately. her chickens haven't ever had a problem. 'cept for 1 getting hit by a car.

It sounds like she realized she had too many???

I'd be upset about her just throwing them in your coop, though. I guess you'd know what conditions her chickens were kept in, and if any of her chickens are sick.

I had a guy call me that wanted to buy laying hens... he said he would take any breed, but no 'roadies'. The only thing I could think he meant by 'roadie' was Rhode Island Reds.

He said "Yep! No roadies!"

Apparently he had owned RIRs in the past and one was hit by a car. Before he could get a shovel to scrape it from the road another 'roadie' went to check out the accident scene and was struck by a car....... then 'roadie' #3 stepped into the road...

And here all this time I thought they were named after a state....

I have given away perfectly good ladies that haven't fit in with the rest of the my girls, or they just didn't flip my wig. I would rather give them away as soon as I know they aren't working for me so someone else can enjoy them and they can be productive for them.
