Have you tried to ask for a copy of, not the actual,xray? A photo of it can be texted or e-mailed to you once they're aware that you save them as momentos. Vet practices are usually legally required to keep records and images for 7 years by most states.
When chickens are submitted to an Animal Disease and Diagnostic Lab it's known that there will be no remains returned because after the necropsy which examines each and every body part inside and out, there's blood testing, biopsy samples of all internal organs and brain, more samples taken for bacterial culture, fungal culture, virology immunotesting (which even requires feathers and their follicles), toxicology, parasitology . . . . That little body is sacrificed to shed light on what she succumbed to and hopefully save the lives of others. It is a noble task.
