Why?

My habit pays completely for itself plus a little to boot. This is the only 'income' I have coming in, so if I don't make enough for feed, they don't eat.

Why ? = curiosity, over enthusiastic, NEW to the pheasant world, and a whole bunch of other reasons. Those of us that have been doing this for 5 years or 35 years sometimes forget we were just as eager at one time. The internet has changed it a little in that one can find so many forums to ask questions about this subject and this wasn't always the case.

I ask because of curiosity I guess I like to know these things. With my red golden, I wanted to know so that I can start looking locally for a friend for her. She can't live with the other pheasants (they are freaks and the one time I put her in there everyone about had heart attacks) and she can't live with her silkie friend much longer. So I would like to get her a male friend.

I have them for enjoyment as I agree that around here there isn't much money to be made in chickens/waterfowl/game birds.

You can not add a bird to an existing pen.They have a pecking order in place.If you add another bird,they will surely kill it.If you put all birds into a new pen,they will all be on even terms.Put the new bird in first and then add the others.But keep an eye out,there is always someone that may want to fight.This usually works but not all the time so keep an eye on them if you decide this route.
